Collaboration with great engineers is important during the entire production process, but as strange as it may sound, many mixing engineers think that mastering is not actually necessary. We think that it is essential that one serious mastering session takes place after all the mixes are done and approved by the producer.
Do not trust sound engineers that have limiters and other plugins active on the master bus while they mix! It is a very lazy way to work that does not give you a real mix nor a proper master after the process. Many of these sound guys include many revisions with an “until you like it” strategy.
The real mastering engineer has to translate to the outside world the high quality studio mix, with a personal touch, adding beauty to a great mix. This essential passage before publishig is part of the production process and should not be left to an AI.
Our main focus is the music itself and the final listener, that is why in case the audio quality is very bad we will be very honest on method of approach and on what to expect as a final result. But sometimes things can really be fixed in mastering!

Oltre alla collaborazione con varie figure professionali, per una produzione allo stato dell’arte è essenziale che venga fatto il mastering dopo il mix, in una sessione diversa da quella del mix e se possibile da persone competenti. Ovviamente saremmo felici se lo faceste da noi, ma esistono molte strutture in tutto il mondo che lavorano bene e sarebbe utile frequentarne più di una, magari di persona, per meglio capire con chi lavorare per ottenere il suono desiderato. In generale la nostra opinione è di diffidare da chi dice che il mastering non serve proprio e lavora con una catena di plugin e limiter mentre fa il mix. Se qualcuno vi offre le revisioni incluse, vi sta già comunicando che il lavoro non sarà soddisfacente dopo tutto il presunto impegno messo durante la realizzazione. Bisogna registrare bene, mixare bene e masterizzare il disco dopo che tutti i mix sono stati approvati dalla produzione. Solo cosi potremo avere un master allo stato dell’arte che suona bene sia in cuffia che sugli impianti HiFi più costosi, una lievemente abbellita traduzione per il mondo esterno, del bellissimo mix iniziale.
Mettiamo al centro dell’attenzione la musica e l’ascoltatore finale, avremo il miglior approccio e con massima onestà vi aiuteremo per migliorare il mix in maniera appropriata se sarà necessario. Altrimenti possiamo adottare un approccio molto più leggero con rispetto del mix originale, ed in alcuni casi specifici il mastering può davvero fare la differenza.
